Human Rights Education and Peace Pedagogies in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Prof. Sören Torrau visited the University of Sarajevo to attend the interdisciplinary conference „Future – Positive Peace“ of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Peace Education Hub, led by Prof. Larisa Kasumagić-Kafedžić, held in the fall of 2023. The conference visit was part of a staff training program funded by Erasmus.
His lecture and workshop „Doing Belonging – an issue among students? Civic Education in a graffiti project on the Nuremberg Trials“ explored the question, how 9th grade students in Nuremberg link the Nuremberg trials with current obstacles to tackle human rights violations and racism in everyday life in a graffiti project – to start an international dialogue about citizenship education and human rights education. Furthermore, he gave an overview about Social Science Education and Human Rights Education in Germany and visited schools in Sarajevo to gain insight into good teaching practice.
